Dr Ballem strives to practice evidence based medicine. This means that she makes her recommendations based on the best available peer reviewed medical research and guidelines. She aims to promote preventative testing to screen for important diseases, minimize unnecessary bloodwork and imaging investigations, and offer treatments.

Some of the routine screening guidelines followed were developed by the Canadian Task Force on Preventative Health and Choosing Wisely Canada.
